Singer Helen Kane, "The Boop-Oop-A-Doop Girl" girl of the '2os and '3os:

Betty Boop, whom creator Max Fleischer was taken to court by Kane over, whom Kane insisted was a "deliberate caricature" that produced "unfair competition" that exploited her personality and image. Max Fleischer and Paramount won the lawsuit.

Sheer balls, fellas, sheer balls.

And yes, I'm OF COURSE aware that Betty Boop was also based on another Paramount star, she who needs only be called "The IT Girl". But of the two, it's clear who bears the stronger resemblance.

ADDENDUM: Despite hearing Clara Bow both sing and speak, I've still wedded Helen Kane's and Mae Questel(the voice of the original Betty Boop)'s voice to her.

I was almost shocked when I saw footage of Kane-- I knew what she looked like, but seeing her mannerisms and her hair that way... so Boop! ^_^

I have a question, and I figured that you would be able to help me out better than anyone.

I am looking for a corset to wear with this dress that is coming up. It's not absolutely necessary that it be aesthetically pleasing...it just needs to work? Haha. I'm not even sure what I'm looking for. I just know that they're like, a MILLION dollars that I don't have.

So I was wondering where (if anywhere) I could get an awesome cheap corset that is awesome. Because I went to like, Victoria's Secret website and it was just skanky little nightie things that they CALL corsets and I was like, HOW CAN THAT HOLD IN ANYTHING IF THEY HAVE NOTHING TO HOLD IN?!

If you can help me at allllllll I would really owe you all of my babies forever.

Hmmm.... I don't actually own a corset because of the expense, so I'm not entirely sure where to send you. Quality corset places I can think of off the top of my head are

Agent Provocateur (http://www.agentprovocateur.com/lingerie/corsets-and-waspies.html)

Absolute Corsets (http://www.absolutecorsets.com/)

Sadly, it does appear that you do have to shell out some serious coin if you want an honest-to-goodness corset.

UPDATE: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] had an artist featured with some very affordable corsets that can be found here (http://www.etsy.com/shop/totallywaisted). Let me know how it turns out! :^)

E.T.A: Okay, I was looking at the prices on the waist cinchers, which are still pretty inexpensive given what they are, not the corsets. Depending on your need, it still might be worth a look.
