Palin vs. Witchcraft
Consider this article regarding Sarah Palin:

Sarah Palin, "Witchcraft" Pastor Thomas Muthee
A video from 2005 showing VP Candidate Sarah Palin at her Wasilla, Alaska Assembly of God Church has surfaced on YouTube. This time, Palin is being blessed by Kenyan Pastor Thomas Muthee who has been noted for his controversial statements about witchcraft.

Well, people are entitled to seek protection against things they consider scary. Except there's one little catch: Witchcraft is a religion, legally recognized as such. Try swapping the names of some other religions into some of the related headlines. Imagine: "Palin Once Blessed Against Judaism" or "Palin Once Blessed Against Islam." Worried yet? I am. This woman stands against pretty much everything I believe in, and I don't think she'd hesitate to destroy my life and the lives of everyone I care about. She is within arm's reach of becoming one of the most powerful people on the planet, and she does stuff like this. *shudder*

Think of how many people you know who are ... well, anything other than Palin's stripe of Christian. How safe do you think we'd be under her?

If you can't work and play well with others, then you hadn't ought to seek a leadership role.

When I discussed this on my blog, someone suggested that Pagans send a postcard to Palin about this. I tweaked the idea a bit, to make it:
1) Witches really exist, and Witchcraft is a recognized religion which Americans are free to practice without discrimination.
2) We're insulted by this "blessed against witchcraft" routine and worried about what it says regarding our religious freedom and safety.
3) I, a registered voter of [city, state] currently anticipate voting for [presidential candidate] because [brief reason].

If her stance is costing her and her running mate votes, that's information they ought to have. If you're voting else wise because that ticket is more tolerant, they might appreciate knowing what attracted your support, too.

The Pagan community has done a number of postcard campaigns over the years when politicians said or did egregious things regarding Witchcraft or other Pagan traditions. Now would be a good time for one.
