Man, that synopsis sounds so manga-ish. I'm surprised you picked it up! And you'd be surprised how quickly you breeze through a single manga. I'll have to check this one out; I read another weird-man-adopting-weird-child manga called Yotsuba!, though that one sounds more inane compared to this one.

I adore the manga that take the time to faithfully translate and subtly teach readers aspects of a culture. It helps you appreciate manga as a international bridge rather than just treating it as foreign and therefore cool by default.
