This book freaked me the fuck out for years after I read it. I think my first contact with it was an excerpt in my mother's Cosmo (Alas, she was a Cosmo Girl). Interesting that there have been so many updates.
The Deliberate Stranger was very good too, if you want to read another book on Bundy. Also, the tv movie with Mark Harmon was creepier than it had any right to be too--the image of Ted carrying Caryn Campbell into the woods is still completely vivid (shudder). I am usually anti-death penalty but in his case I think it was the right thing to do--especially after he killed again after escaping. I'm not of the "lets study them" school.
A hearty "yes" to your thoughts on resisting in any way possible--I'm old enough to remember being taught that if you placate someone you'll have a better chance of survival. Even when I was very young I remember thinking that made no sense whatsoever. Very "blame the victim".
I was a bit freaked out, though not surprised, to learn his VW is in a "crime museum" and the tapes of his confessions are available on the Internet.
