His mother's story I found more sad (but then, she wasn't my mother), especially since he says like a few nights before she committed suicide, she came to his bedroom and said
"You still love me, Artie... don't you?"
And he says he blew her off with an annoyed "Sure, Ma." and turned over to go back to sleep.
I sort of want to hug Art Spiegelman if I ever meet him, not just for his genius but because so much of his life is so flippin' sad. I'm reading his book of 9/11 now. :^/
