For Those Who Have Died Violently or in Great Distress

Mother of healing,
help us to believe in the
place where wounds can heal.

Mother of weaving,
show us that what has been torn
can there be mended.

The worst has happened.
How can we believe again
in hope, love, and kindness?

Victims and loved ones of the Sandy Hook massacre
Victims and loved ones of the Sandy Hook massacre
Victims and loved ones of the Sandy Hook massacre

Boatman, Ferryman,
They have had a rough crossing.
Carry them gently.

Comfort them, Mother,
in your warm arms of
night; rock them to sleep.

And by our rage,
Mother of Justice,
May justice be done.

I'm sorry, but if we truly want to keep perspective, we should target the Tea Party "movement", who truly obscure Hitler and the Nazis and for sinister purposes.

Everyone who thinks they have an opinion on abortion should read this. For pro-choice advocates, it's a reminder of how our rights have to be protected. For pro-life advocates, it's a reminder (or a wake-up call) to the reality of a country where abortion is criminalized.

This makes me particularly happy since the videos The Daily Show Dot Com and Colbert Nation Dot Com don't work on ANY of my browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Google Crome), not even the embeds anymore, so I'd be TOTALLY fucked. FUCK YOU, COMEDY CENTRAL. YOU COULDN'T PROGRAM FLASH WITH A FLASHLIGHT AND BOTH HANDS.

But still... NO BLACKOUT! :^D

'Magic Negro' Flap Might Help Saltsman

Andy Barr – Tuesday, December 30th 2008

Um, how exactly is "Barack the Magic Negro" not racist? Because they toted out a token black guy (or two) to say it was okay? What century IS this?
The idea that anyone would be surprised that people were appalled by a song called "Barack the Magic Negro" is... well... appalling. I mean, seriously? And the Republican party wonders why it's in a downward spiral.

SLIDESHOW: 106-Year-Old Atlanta Woman Casts Ballot

Ann Cooper, 106, said she has voted in numerous presidential elections.

Cooper, who is African-American, said she never imagined seeing an African-American nominated for president in her lifetime.

Cooper hopes to motivate others to cast their ballots.

“By all means, no matter what, get out and vote. Vote your choice,” said Cooper.

McCain Booed After Trying to Calm Anti-Obama Crowd
By PHILIP ELLIOTT and BETH FOUHY, Associated Press Writers 10-11-08

LAKEVILLE, Minn. - The anger is getting raw at Republican rallies and John McCain is acting to tamp it down. McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about Barack Obama's character, he described the Democrat as a "decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States."There's More.... )

Let's not forget that at a McCain rally recently devolved into racial epithets, one apparently directed at a black cameraman. Come on, November fourth! Come already, dammit!

Not just one half the first couple to legally marry under the California Supreme Court decision last June, she was also a well known GLBT activist, seniors' rights activist, and a crusader against domestic violence.
